How mutual choice works in Attune

By Attune · Updated

Attune separates your choice from the character’s response. That distinction lets an interaction develop through conversation instead of treating every like as an instant relationship.

A like is your side of the conversation

In Discover, liking a profile expresses your interest. The character’s response is a separate result. Read the displayed status after choosing: he may show interest, prefer to learn more, or not be interested at that point.

A pending or failed response should not be read as a yes or no. Wait for the displayed result or use the available retry action. Skipping or changing the order of cards is a browsing choice, not a rewrite of previous conversations.

Mutual interest is a starting point

Choosing each other gives the interaction a shared starting point. It does not mean that you have become partners. Conversation and later relationship decisions are distinct from the initial like.

When interest is not mutual, follow the options shown in the current profile or conversation. Sending another message cannot guarantee that a character will change his response. Choose a pace and an interaction that you enjoy rather than treating the result as a score to optimize.

Character decisions remain part of fiction

The language of interest and relationships describes an AI character experience. It does not establish a real-world commitment or tell you anything objective about your worth or compatibility with people.

If you want to continue, start with a question grounded in the profile. If you would rather explore someone else, return to Discover. Your choice to continue, change direction, or leave remains yours.
